Occuity Supports Myopia Action Month
In the ever-evolving landscape of optometry, innovation often takes centre stage, creating an atmosphere of excitement. Among the highly anticipated products poised to make waves in the field of myopia management, Occuity's AX1 Axiometer™ stands out as a game-changing development. Currently planned for release towards the end of 2024, the AX1 has been creating quite a stir at industry events and trade shows, captivating the attention of eye care professionals and optometry enthusiasts alike.
Recently, members of Occuity's senior leadership team, Mark Jenkins and Richard Kadri-Langford headed to Vienna to coincide with the 41st Congress of the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons (ESCRS). The team had over 30 arranged meetings with industry connections whilst in Vienna, and each was given an exclusive preview of the first untethered prototype of the Occuity AX1 Axiometer™. This event offered a glimpse into the future of axial length measurement for myopia management and showcased the device's potential to reshape the industry.
Now, let's delve into why we believe the Occuity AX1 Axiometer™ is going to be a game changer.
AX1: A Promising Solution for Myopia Management
The Occuity AX1 Axiometer™ promises to be a pivotal tool in the battle against myopia, by 'measuring axial length in seconds'. This means eye care professionals will be able to have a cost-effective solution to access this crucial measurement required to support the screening and monitoring of myopia and the effectiveness of treatments. By delivering precise measurements of axial length and anterior chamber depth, critical parameters for myopia diagnosis and management, the AX1 empowers optometrists to offer personalised myopia management strategies. Its handheld format will also make it easier to use on young children.
While the Occuity AX1 Axiometer™ isn't available yet and is still in the final development stages, its upcoming launch in 2024 holds immense promise for the field of optometry. As myopia rates continue to soar, we believe the AX1 will prove a crucial tool and by reshaping the landscape of myopia management, is poised to make a significant impact on the eye care industry.
