How did you get involved in Occuity and why did you feel it was the right thing for you?

Earlier this year (June 2021) I saw the Quality Engineer role advertised on LinkedIn and was intrigued. After reading more about the company and devices on the website, and speaking to the interview panel I was sold on the idea of working at Occuity. The knowledge, passion and excitement of the team were key factors in my decision to join Occuity.

What is your position at Occuity and why is your role important?

I’m a Quality Engineer, focusing on Design Control and Risk Management. Design Control is an important part of product development, allowing the company to demonstrate that the devices have been methodically designed and developed such that they will meet end user needs and requirements.

The aim of Risk Management is to identify, evaluate and mitigate any potential hazards/harms to the patient or user, and any hazardous situations arising during use of the device.

What excites you the most about your job and Occuity?

Joining a start-up company at this stage of its growth offers such an exciting opportunity to make a difference. I have previously worked for some of the biggest Medical Device companies on established, market leading products, and was keen to get involved at the very beginning of development process and take novel devices through to commercialisation. Occuity offered me the chance to do this, and I jumped at it!

What do you think Occuity’s future will look like?

The future of Occuity is going to be big and exciting! There is so much potential for the devices currently under development, and for those in the pipeline, that could positively impact the health of people all around the world.
