Over the past weekend, some of Occuity's senior leadership team headed to the vibrant city of San Francisco to participate in the eagerly awaited American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO) Annual Meeting. This four-day event is the largest and longest-running congregation of ophthalmologists and health professionals globally, drawing together over 14,000 visitors under one roof.
Mark Jenkins, Occuity's COO, and Daniele De Iulliis, Occuity's Design Director, made their mark as they attended the event as part of ALT Medical's stand, a valuable connection we have built in the industry. What made this year's AAO Annual Meeting truly significant was the debut of the Occuity AX1 Axiometer™ prototype, a device poised to redefine axial length measurement.
Due to launch in late 2024, the Occuity AX1 Axiometer™ will be the world's first handheld, optical, non-contact meter, capable of easily, accurately and safely measuring axial length in just a few seconds. The AX1 will provide optometrists with a superb solution for their need to accurately measure axial length – a crucial measurement used for monitoring the effectiveness of myopia management therapies.
Mark and Daniele utilised the event to engage with key opinion leaders (KOLs), industry professionals, and potential North and South American distributors. This step precedes the upcoming PM1 launch and the eagerly anticipated FDA 510(k) mark approval, which was submitted in September. This submission will enable the sale of the Occuity PM1 Pachymeter across the USA, India and much of the Middle East and Latin America. These expansive markets all hold significant potential, and we're actively in talks with potential partners across these regions.
Mark Jenkins, commented:
"The event served as an excellent opportunity to showcase our technology and give attendees a chance to get hands-on with our devices ahead of the highly anticipated PM1 and AX1 launch. We engaged in several positive discussions with industry professionals who were very impressed by the innovative and sleek design of our devices, as well as the performance of the technology platform they are built on."
Keep an eye out on our website for more exciting updates on future events and exhibitions, Occuity will be attending.
