For the series “a chat with the team”: Mohsen Rahimi

Mohsen Rahimi

Last month Occuity warmly welcomed Mohsen Rahimi to the team. Previously Mohsen worked as an Embedded Software Engineer at IMI Norgren, and at Occuity he will collaborate with Alistair on the Future Leaders Fellowship project. His responsibilities include drafting and maintaining code specifications and requirements, designing comprehensive code platforms and architectures, and ensuring code integrity. Additionally, Mohsen will play a crucial role in continuous improvement by overseeing testing and managing software releases and versioning.


How did you get involved in Occuity and why did you feel it was the right thing for you?

I learnt about this opportunity on LinkedIn. At first, I was impressed by Occuity’s achievements and vision. Furthermore, working on a retinal imaging system with high-tech laser and optics sounds interesting to me. Besides, Occuity is a growing medtech startup, and I wanted to join the team and contribute to the development of next-generation medical equipment that could make a great impact on people's health. During my interview with a group of scientists at Occuity, I was inspired by their ambition to push the boundaries of science. The alignment between Occuity’s vision and my own career goals, along with the chance to work on cutting-edge technology, made it clear that this was the right move for me.


What is your position at Occuity and why is your role important?

I am a Software Engineer at Occuity, where my key responsibilities include designing system architecture, developing and maintaining code platforms, and ensuring code integrity. I also oversee continuous improvement through testing and manage software releases and versioning.I collaborate on the Future Leaders Fellowships (FLF) project, which is funded by UKRI, and my line manager is Dr. Alistair Bound. I work with a team of scientists on the Retinal Imaging Systems. This project is crucial for the company as it will drive the development of the next generation of Occuity products. My role is instrumental in turning cutting-edge research into practical solutions.


What do you find most exciting or unique about Occuity's technology/products?

What excites me most about Occuity is the use of lasers and optics to create groundbreaking medtech products. In addition, we have the freedom to explore new areas and experiment with emerging technologies, which enables us to continuously grow and expand our expertise. This innovative approach results in truly unique products that use optical technologies to screen and diagnose diseases in a non-invasive and highly effective way.
